Meet Mary Tillinghast and the Quilt is finished

Mary Tillinghast, Sheepish Antiques
36 ct Lakeside Linens vintage examplar, called for AVAS silks, 1 over 2
She is complete now. I haven't decided whether I will frame her yet or not. I would like to do all of my Rhode Island Samplers first and then have them framed at the same time, so they can hang together. Hubby, as a carpenter, does not like holes all over the walls, so a person needs to know where they are going to hang items and NOT move them. LOL  I just tell him I'll put some toothpaste in the holes...he doesn't think it's funny.

I have to laugh every time I look at Mary because if you look at the bottom yellow and blue freehand flowers, located on the left and right, you will see that my right side ones are waaay bigger and that would be because I was on pain killers for some minor surgery that I had this week.  They look like they are on steroids. LOL
Mr. Cooper oversaw the photo shoot for the sampler.  He is now a rock star on face book and when I told him that, he wanted to know if he could be in the next post. I said that he would have to share with his sister dog, HoneyBear, and he walked off pouting. Cats.

It was a beautiful morning in the Helena Valley.

My view out my kitchen window over the green fields.

The view out of the front door, to the Elkhorn Mountains.  Eagle eyed facebookers said it was a cat or a rabbit in the clouds...good catch!
Northern Bullock Oriole
The Quilt is done!  But, it gets its own post because I want to put the binding on and wash before presenting her to the world.

HoneyBear demanded equal time as the "dumb" cat. She truly thinks that Mr. Cooper is inferior. Can't you see it in her eyes?

Hey look what came! Such a lovely book.  The samplers are incredible. Hail Specimen of Femal Art catalog...it's more like a book than a catalog.

Ann Rayner is squaking to get finished so I guess I'll keep my attention focused. I've got the other samplers locked behind a closet door so I can't hear their pleading to get worked on too.

In Stitches,
Robin

  1. Greetings from France - Normandy to be exact! Love your latest sampler and the hints of your quilt making. I'm suffering from a split personality in that I never can make up my mind whether I want to sampler-stitch or quilt-piece/appliqué. Decisions are so difficult! https://www.facebook.com/Roland.Smith.Page/photos/a.102781913098951.1859.101762539867555/882405611803240/?type=1

  3. Oh my gosh Sue, you had me laughing...yes, who is Roland Smith? LOL
Normandy, France...wow, you are a long distance from here. What a special, historical place on this earth. Thank you for visiting my blog.

I am like you...split down the middle. I think the bottom line is that we like to work with needle and thread in hand. I was a quilter since 1979 and my goal when I died was to be known as the most prolific quilter ever! (I hand stitch and hand quilt, so how can that be fast?) LOL When I discovered knitting in 1999, I put my quilting away and cried the whole time...can you imagine? My husband didn't "get" it. It was like I was grieving for the past, yet wanted to move forward with the future in knitting, but felt like I was admitting defeat...to what? Then quilting snuck back out and lived peacefully with knitting and then WHAM, the sampler stitching hit me in 2012. I was bowled over by my passion for it and everything else went in storage again. Alas, I have come to terms with this animal. I will have a project each going, but only have to work on what really calls to me that day. I can no longer think that I am going to be the "ultimate" quilter or stitcher or knitter, because it isn't going to happen; I'm getting older. LOL

  4. Hi, Robin, what a beautiful place you live in, reminds me of "Legends of the Fall", one of my favorite movies. Mary is beautiful, is there a lot of queen stitch like the other Rhode Island samplers? Queen stitch is what keeps me from doing one :( The quilt is wonderful, the colors are just like the oriole. Did you plan it that way? Melinda

  5. Hi Melinda, I'm sorry I didn't see your comment until today. Montana is beautiful. I am a Colorado transplant, so i am torn between the beauty of both placees. Yes, what a great movie!
No, there are no queen stitches in Mary so she would be perfect for you. There are some rice stitches and a bit of satin or straight stitches and the rest cross. There is quite a bit of over 1 and that was frustrating when I was in the home stretch. Lol I think you would enjoy her. No on the color planning, but I did notice that also. I really should get that binding done.....

  9. Rapid Trim 24/7 The above quote, reflects words that ring true, since eating in the night time isn't advisable, especially after 8 pm. It has to do with one's metabolic rate, since the lower it is, the slower the digestion process. So it ultimately leads one to feel bloated, not to mention holding food inside of you, as you sleep. It is important to manage small meals, as well as incorporate activity in your lifestyle. Here you'll find rapid weight loss diets for women, that will cater to your need to slim down in a matter of weeks.

  10. Pure Primal Keto Recent research noticed that metabolic adaptation (adaptive thermogenesis) can make a difference in the ability of obese individuals to lose body weight. Metabolic adaptation following massive weight loss is related to the degree of energy imbalance and changes in circulating leptin. Weight Loss is associated with a decrease in total and resting Energy Expenditure. The aim is to investigate whether (1) diets with different rate and extent of Weight Loss determined different changes in total and resting Energy Expenditure and if (2) they influenced the level of adaptive thermogenesis, defined as the decline in total or resting Energy Expenditure not accounted by changes in body composition.

  11. Zyalix Reviews There are various natural exercises aimed at increasing the length and girth of your penis without the need to undergo surgical procedure. But before you undergo this process, you must first understand that this can take some time before you can see some positive results. But with patience and determination, you are guaranteed to enjoy positive results, especially in terms of girth and length of your penis. This approach is also not for everyone because while some men often find male enhancement exercises as the effective way to address their size problems, a number of men who tried this approach are not as lucky and they have to find another way in order to solve their sexual problems.
